Snow Tubing at Alpine Slide

Alpine SlideIf you want to take the kids snow tubing this winter, head to the Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, my favorite snow tubing park in the area. Alpine Slide offers exhilarating rides down one of their 5 snow-tubing lanes, a covered moving carpet for an easy ride to the top, several outdoor tables for family members that prefer to watch, indoor tables to eat a warm lunch on colder days, an arcade area, and easy free parking. Afterwards, make sure to try their bobsled experience which offers two quarter-mile long cement tracks that you can ride with a sled on wheels. Did I mention that kids under 7 ride for free? You can easily spend a full day at Alpine Slide having a blast with your kiddos.

Know Before You Go:

  • Children between the ages of 2 and 6 ride free with a paying adult and will ride with the adult
  • I recommend you wear snow boots, gloves and snow pants to stay warm and dry. However, many people, including my husband, wore jeans and tennis shoes and they were just fine.
  • The inner tubes are provided and are included in the price of admission
  • They only accept cash. They do have an ATM machine in case you forget to bring cash.
  • Day unlimited sessions are from 10 am to 4pm which means you have great flexibility. You can snow tube all day long, or you can snow tube in the morning, leave for lunch, and then come back for more in the afternoon.
  • They do offer evening sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. Evening sessions are from 5pm to 9pm and they are normally less crowded. You also save $5 per person.
  • Pack your own lunch, or purchase a meal from their cafe’. They sell hot/cold beverages, burgers, french fries, hot dogs and more.
  • We went on one of the busiest holiday weekends of the season, and yes there were a lot of people. We almost left when we saw the line to purchase tickets but I am happy we didn’t. The line moved very fast and once we got our passes we never waited more than 2 minutes to go down the hill.

Big Bear Alpine Zoo: an amazing facility that rehabilitates injured animals. This fun zoo has lots of animals such as deer, coyotes, owls, foxes, mountain lions, a snow leopard, wolves, black bears, and even grizzly bears. Admission is $12 for adults and $9 for children ages 3-10. I believe it is free if you have a Santa Ana Zoo membership.
