Do you know that you can enjoy the Christmas Train event at the Irvine Regional Park for free? Well, you won’t be able to go on the train, but that doesn’t mean you can not have a wonderful family time to celebrate the holiday season. So here is how you make it a free or inexpensive outing:
The Santa’s Village next to the train station is open to everyone for free. The entire area is beautifully decorated with colorful Christmas lights which makes a visit all worth it.
Your kids can also join Mrs. Claus for story time and take pictures with her, for free. Other free activities include visiting the Christmas coloring corner, and taking photos in the beautiful holiday picture stands. So you can easily enjoy one hour of free activities and have a wonderful time.
I also want to mention that they have kid’s activities at the train station that are $5 each. If you would like to pick one activity for your kids, I would suggest the fishing game where your kids are given a fishing pole to try to catch 5 fish. Everyone wins a small stuffed Santa which is really cute.
I would also suggest to go just after 4pm, so that parking is free and it is dark enough to better enjoy the Christmas lights.
Story Time with Mrs. Claus
Mrs. Claus will entertain children by reading from books including “The Night Before Christmas”, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and other Christmas favorites. She will also lead both children and adults in singing Christmas carols. When not on stage, Mrs. Claus is available for pictures.
Christmas Coloring Corner
Create lasting memories by taking photos in the festive holiday picture stands.
Santa Bounce House Jumper ($5)
Always a favorite with children, they’re sure to jump with joy in our Christmas bounce house. Children will jump and hop the night chill away.
Christmas Cookie Decorating ($5)
Children of all ages can be imaginative and use frosting, candy and other goodies to decorate a giant sugar cookie… a big, sweet treat for Christmas.
Ice Fishing ($5)
While relatively warm at Irvine Park Railroad for ice fishing, children can drop a line and learn to ice fish. They’ll use a small fishing pole to catch up to 5 “fish”. Every child that plays wins a prize!
Christmas Carnival Games ($5)
Children can try their luck at two Christmas carnival games. Every child that plays wins a prize!
Rudolph Racers ($5)
Ride a tractor all decked out for the occasion. For ages 5-9.
